For the first Interview Slot of 2020, I have spliced together a version using of some of the best answers from my 2019 candidates. The questionnaire was new last year, incorporating questions appropriate for a wider range of interviewees. I like to spread my net wider to catch more than bloggers but also authors, illustrators and other sex positive folk.

Lets start with: Dr J. – Author & Sex Educator

What made you decide to write on an adult/erotic theme?

After nearly 40 years in my professional life as a sex educator and therapist, it was a way to keep teaching. I had taught about the research on fantasies, and when I left the college classroom, my students said I had to keep going, that I told good stories. Writing erotic fiction had never been on my radar until then. So, two years into retirement, I went for it. That was three years ago.

What draws you to the blogs you follow?

I love creativity in all forms. Blogs that show me a different take on a topic are the ones I follow.

  • What draws you to the blogs you follow?

[Sweetgirl’s Journal on Twitter @sweetgirl_mrh] Featured in October

You know this was a difficult question to answer.  I read the blogs of people living a similar lifestyle to us as I find it fascinating to see how everyone’s dynamic is different and yet similar.  I read the blogs of submissive men and women; their experiences gives me ideas for play, toys I may want to try and of course I do enjoy the voyeuristic element to peeking into their lives.  I read the blogs of people who are non-monogamous as this fascinates me no end. I know absolutely it isn’t something I could ever do, I do not have the self confidence/ self esteem to be able to share or be shared.  To me Mr H leaving me or choosing someone over me (even for a brief encounter) is my biggest fear. I wrote about that earlier this year.

  • Nominate your favourite “adult” film or book

The “Brie” series of books by Red Phoenix.

[Starcross’ blogs at London Love and Lust on Twitter @LoveLustLondon] He was featured in April

  • What is your favourite type of adult toy?

Rabbit-style vibrators. So far I’ve yet to find a toy that does anything for me on/in any part of my body, but these vibrators always have spectacular results with my partners. Bringing them to orgasm is a source of great pleasure for me.

  • If you were sent to a desert island (with no power issues) name the adult item or film or book you’d take with you:

Does my sub count as an item?! OK, I guess not. It would have to be Delta of Venus by Anaïs Nin. I first found this book as an impressionable pre-teen on my parent’s bookshelf and delighted in the images it conjured in my head. I’ve revisited many times since and never fail to be titillated, in various different ways.

  • What’s your current sexuality?  At what age did you realise this was the right ‘fit’ for you?

Non-monogamous poly. It has taken a long time for me to find the proper nomenclature with which to describe it, but from the time I was a teenager and had my first boyfriend, I knew I never wanted marriage or to promise “forever” to one person. My all time record in monogamous relationships is six months. Then several years ago I met a man who was a lot like me, and together we’ve explored the world of ethical non-monogamy. I don’t talk much about my own personal life on the blog, but he has inspired a couple of pieces and got a small mention once. We adore each other, but we both believe it is possible to love more than one person at a time. And I cherish the freedom that non-monogamy and polyamory offers me.

  • What’s your preference – naked or “dressed up” for sex?  If dressed up, how so?

Tough choice. How about half-undressed? That’s the best of both worlds!! Little skirt around my waist; blouse torn open; bra-strap pulled half-off, one breast emerging from the cup; crotch of my knickers yanked to one side. Lush. Yes, please!!

  • Is there a kink or fantasy you’re yearning to try?

One? Just one? Many, way too many for a life-time, most likely, haha! Most of my kinks are related to BDSM, and so are the kinks that I would like to try out. I want to do way more rope play, I want to try out electro play, I want to see what medical staples and needles feel like. One of my fantasies has always been having sex with more than one person at a time, but not in a vanilla threesome way. I want to be shared/whored out by my Master. Oh, and I want to do outdoor sex. Can you believe that I have never had outdoor sex?

  • Name a pivotal moment in your youth which may have set the path for your sex life:

This is such a difficult question to answer. I didn’t have actual consensual sex until I was 22, and even then, it was more of a vanilla hush hush kind of affair. Maybe I can answer this question by saying that I think that my interest in kink, BDSM, D/s and fetish is rooted in my childhood that unfortunately was marked by a lot of abuse. As in the moment where I actually discovered how kinky I am? A couple of years ago I started engaging sexually with my current partner and our first erotic hypnosis session opened up the world of kink for me.

Rachael Woe’s answer to the same question (in May) was equally fascinating:

When I was very young, maybe five or six, I was diagnosed with central precocious puberty, which meant my hormones were behaving as though I were a few years older. I’ve often wondered if this had something to do with my preoccupation with all things sexual from a young age. I thought about it constantly. I still think about it often, though now that I write about it professionally, I have an excuse!

I was lucky that my family had decent health insurance at the time, so I was able to seek treatment and prolong puberty enough that I could buy myself a few more inches in height (many people with precocious puberty barely make it to five feet), but I wish my parents had taken the psychological impacts more seriously. It’s impossible to pinpoint exactly why most of us turn out the way we do, but I find it hard to believe that having breasts at the age of seven wouldn’t have some effect on how I relate to myself and the world around me.

  • Name the fictional being or species you’d most like to have an encounter with:

Vampires. I’ve always had a sweet spot for the dark, broody, mysterious creatures of the night. I think it’s fair to say I was a little obsessed with them in high school. My very first attempt at erotic fiction was a vampire story. One of these days I’ll have to sit down and try writing another one!

  • If you watch porn, do you have a preference for professional or amateur?

It depends on what sort of mood I’m in. If I want to watch a scene from beginning to end, I’ll go for professional. Probably something on Bellesa, where the porn is super high quality and sex positive. But sometimes I crave the DIY-style intimacy of an amateur video, when I want to feel like a fly on the wall. Both types have their place in the pornscape.

  • What’s your current sexuality? At what age did you realise this was the right ‘fit’ for you?

I’m a heterosexual female. I’ve always been that way. I was always attracted to men (older men), never to women. Even as a kid, I had crushes on older guys. When I was in high school, I masturbated quite often over a male teacher in his forties.

  • You’re going to a party – if you could pick 5 ideal guests (living or dead) to meet and party with, who would they be? Expand a little on why you chose them:

Jane Austen: I love her dry, almost sarcastic wit. I think she’d be a blast to hang out with.

Stephen King: Every interview I’ve seen with him, he’s an absolute riot! His Twitter feed is hilarious.

Dave Barry: He was a humor writer for the Miami Herald and a novelist. Again, I think he’d be fun to hang out with.

Joan Jett: She is the best chick rocker of all time. How could you not have her at a party?

Jamie Dornan: Every party needs some eye candy and I have a whole new respect for him after he sang in Fifty Shades Freed.

Since Stephen King and Dave Barry were (are?) in a band with other notable writers called the Rock Bottom Remainders, maybe they can form a special band with Jane Austen, Joan Jett, and Jamie Dornan. Now that’s a performance I’d love to see!

Interviewing Dr J in February she answered my favourite questions (which people sometimes skip)

  • What would you choose for your drag queen / burlesque dancer name?Cherry Sunset (I have red hair!)
  • Sex needn’t always be serious – do you have a funny moment to share?

You mean like dealing with height difference, me standing on a stool and falling off of it. Not exactly to the climax we were looking for.

  • Which mainstream film depicts your favourite erotic scene?9 1/2 Weeks because of where I was and who I was with when I saw it.

  • Nominate your favourite “adult” film or book:The Siren Tiffany Reisz

Thank you for including my answers in your round up – I had a blast taking part and I kinda see it like my ‘being famous’ moment. I was being interviewed by a Pro!

I look forward to the 2020 series!
