I’m not always a fan of Elton John, but a few of his songs have lyrics which speak to me, and the song I Guess that’s Why they Call it the Blues, is one. The lyrics are beautiful, about missing a loved one when you are away. My favourite lines are:

Time on my hands could be time spent with you
Laughing like children, living like lovers
Rolling like thunder under the covers

I know about missing the people I love because of enforced absences I’ve experienced, not always through my own choice. It’s painful, a physical tug on your heart and a distracting draw on your subconscious as you long to be with the people you’re missing.

Nowadays there are selfies, so it’s possible to send the person you are missing pictures of you (& what you are doing) to keep them closer to your heart.  This example might have made my beloved hurry home! And when I got him home, rolling like thunder under the covers would be how I’d welcome him!

I Guess That’s Why They Call It the Blues
Don’t wish it away
Don’t look at it like it’s forever
Between you and me I could honestly say
That things can only get better
And while I’m away
Dust out the demons inside
And it won’t be long before you and me run
To the place in our hearts where we hide
And I guess that’s why they call it the blues
Time on my hands could be time spent with you
Laughing like children, living like lovers
Rolling like thunder under the covers
And I guess that’s why they call it the blues
Just stare into space
Picture my face in your hands
Live for each second without hesitation
And never forget I’m your man
Wait on me girl
Cry in the night if it helps
But more than ever I simply love you
More than I love life itself

Thank you lovely one. I like this and I Wanna Kiss the Bride by EJ, they are my stand-out faves.
