Flip pad with ‘Reviews’ as logo

There was a time (forgive me if you already know this) when my blog consisted of book reviews. It wasn’t called “Pillow Talk” back then. Many of the books I reviewed were mainstream, but it’d be true to say reading and reviewing was the core of my blog life. However, the urge to write and create stories for people to read was strong. Sometimes reading great wordsmithing made me feel “I can’t compete” but other times it made me feel inspired … until one day I grasped the nettle and began to write erotica as Posy.

The CORE of my blogging nowadays is sexy prose, both fictional and fact based, a genre I quickly gravitated towards was BDSM. I’ve learned a lot since my early writing forays. I know now that readers want evidence of consent, aftercare, diverse body shapes and ages, basically include more realism. Those idealised master and slave, millionaire and inexperienced sub stories set in a dungeon are fairly 2-dimensional – they don’t hold a discerning reader’s attention.

This weekend I finally read, no I gorged on, a book which has been on my radar for a while The Fifth Floor : An Erotic BDSM Novel (The Perfect Submissive Book 1) by Kay Jaybee

I met Kay at the Eroticon conference in Camden in March 2019.

I attended a workshop she ran in which she promoted the concept that featuring ordinary items from daily life helps the reader connect with your writing. The idea made sense and she puts it into practice in this very sexy novel; so many everyday objects are used for kinky purposes, making the idea run through the reader’s mind (if they’re so inclined) “I could give that a try!”

Hidden behind the respectable facade of the Fables Hotel in Oxfordshire, five specially adapted rooms await visitors to the fifth floor. Here, Mrs Peters is mistress of an adult entertainment facility pandering to the kinky requirements of its guests.

Mrs Laura Peters is not to be trifled with! The woman has a voracious sexual appetite and a will of steel. When she has a subject in her crosshairs, there will be no escape and she enjoys the thrill of the hunt. As the story commences she has two prey in her sights. Firstly Sam Wheeler – a guest at a conference who stirs her interest as a conquest and (if he passes certain tests) a co-conspirator in her plans to develop the services she offers on the fifth floor.

The second is Jess Sanders, employed as a bookings clerk, but who shows outward signs of being the perfect submissive. Jess is a total innocent in the story development. Until her employment at the luxury hotel began, she had no idea that D/s was even her kink! The curvy girl is a quick study. Under the tutelage of the mercurial Mrs Peters and the strict training routine prescribed by the resident dominatrix Miss Sarah, they plan to turn her delicious meekness and determination to please to their advantage. And there you have the premise of the novel – making Miss Sanders into the ultimate submissive for the hotel’s kink entertainment purposes.

The scenarios which depict Jess and Sam receiving punishment and instruction are fabulously inventive and varied. I devoured the book in two days, hardly able to put it down, I was in a lust-filled fog as I read! Kay describes the settings in such a way that I could have been there! The reader is privvy to the point of view of the book’s three main characters: Mrs Peters, Jess and Sam.

Some wonderful and varied kinks are explored: controlled orgasms, pee play, school room corporal punishment, chastity devices (both male and female), medical examination, sensory deprivation and overload to name a few.

Let me give you a flavour of the action. As my theme is ‘core’ I’m quoting a section which finds Jess doing a workout devised by the hotel’s dominatrix to strengthen her core and instill discipline. She is being secretly observed, via live-feed camera, by Sam & Mrs Peters.

Sam watched as Jess forced her tired frame into a sit-up, which delivered her chest close enough to Miss Sarah’s reward giving tongue to receive a tantalisingly light lap.

… the new girl was panting, and he imagined confused purrs of pleasure coming from her mouth as she pushed her muscles harder just for the bliss of Miss Sarah’s tongue on her chest. Eventually though, the clerk collapsed back, and Sam found he was holding his breath, willing her to get up and keep going.  The sheen of sweat that glistened on her skin looked good enough to eat, and Sam felt combined defeat and disappointment as Miss Sarah stood up, signalling the end of that exercise.

“Pay close attention, You’ll like this bit.” Laura Peters whispered in his ear, her breath tickling the sensitive skin of his neck, her right hand cupping his crotch.

… Sam watched as Miss Sarah produced a pair of love balls.  They were obviously familiar to the girl, for she parted her legs without being asked; while the older woman took her time easing them in place.

… “Her task is to stand with her arms outstretched and legs apart.  The balls must not fall out and she must not come, even though every inch of her must want to.”

“And if she fails and they fall out?” Sam asked.

“She’ll face more correction.” Laura Peter’s eyes narrowed.

I normally rate books on the ‘fanny gallops’ they deliver. This book certainly got me aroused and made me want to indulge in self pleasure. After reading it, I keep getting flutters of excitement when I remember certain passages therein, so it gets 5 ‘hearts’ and I shall definitely be downloading the sequels. I can confidently recommend it as a novel you’re likely to enjoy.

Well, thanks to you for writing so well. Like Posy, you really allow the reader to identify with the feelings and experiences of the character. I particularly liked the predicament elements of the story, for both male and female characters. I’ve sped through The Fifth Floor and am deliciously denying myself until later today when I will curl up with The Retreat.xx
