Revisiting Interviews – Tom Starling & Starcross

This week I have a devious plan – I’m sharing these 2 interviews to remind you how awesome these guys are. My latest piece of erotic fiction wouldn’t exist without them.

On Twitter I shared some very sexy images created by Tom Starling and from the responses which followed, Starcross and I decided to collaborate on a piece of fiction, which I’ll share on my next post.

First archive interview: Tom Starling – here’s a piece of his awesome art. His images are both sexy and unusual, not least because of the backgrounds he uses.

  • What made you decide to write a sex blog?

Porn and gratification on the internet can seem like a waste of time because nothing is ever produced outside of the orgasm. This is a way of getting my rocks off whilst possibly being of some use to other people.

I also believe kinks are as individual as fingerprints so I’m trying to offer something slightly different that might hit the spot for a few people.

  • What’s behind the title of your blog or your blogging “name”?

Nothing really. Just a name. I thought having the name of a person might make it seem more engaging rather than ‘Master Ringpiece’, or ‘Sir Darkly’ or any of that nonsense.

  • Describe your blog in a nutshell:

Micro fiction. Erotica distilled into tiny bitesized sentences and images. You never see the whole picture. It’s a collection of moments.

  • How long have you been blogging on this theme?

There were some dry runs before this venture, but this project has been going for 18 months.

  • What is your favourite type of adult toy?

A person.

  • If you were sent to a desert island (with no power issues) name the 1 adult toy you’d take with you:

A person.

  • What’s your current sexuality?  At what age did you realise this was the right ‘fit’ for you?

It’s fairly fluid. I think I still grow. Once a year I usually find something and think, “oh I didn’t realise that turned me on before”.

I’m always changing and that sexuality changes according to the person I’m with.

  • What’s your preference – naked or “dressed up” for sex?  If dressed up, how so?

Clothes. All the clothes. The only porn I’ve paid for is where the people are dressed. I had to pay for it as a premium.

  • Is there a kink or fantasy you’re yearning to try?

I would like there to be whole websites and escort agencies that particularly focus in on the kink of World War One nurses. That area of fetish is criminally undermined.

  • Name the fictional being or species you’d most like to have an encounter with:

George Smiley.

  • Anal sex – Meh or Yay?

  • Sex needn’t always be serious – do you have a funny moment to share?

The layers of submission can manifest themselves into strange situations. I once had a sub on a cam site and the 100 or so men watching had to behave and do as I said or I got her to block them.

I had my own army.

  • Sexting – love it or hate it?

Autocorrect can sometimes kill a boner.

  • Which mainstream film depicts your favourite erotic scene?

Logan’s Run.

  • Do you watch porn?

Less so than I did, you become more fussy.

  • Nominate your favourite adult film:

Not one, but there is this 1990s porn star called Laure Sinclair, who is hard to find but rocks my boat.

  • Before you go, please tell us 1 adult blog (aside from yours) which we must add to our reading list:

Well this is sort of embarrassing because I sort of don’t really read, I just write and create, which is kind of selfish. This lady posts good pictures.

Oh Tom Starling can be found on Tumblr  or on Twitter.  Tom can customise pictures to order but often pleases himself with series of images. Seriously, browse his site and follow him on Twitter for opportunities to vote on your favourites. To commission a portrait costs £35.

The second interview I’m sharing is in the more recent format, compiled after meeting at Eroticon 2019. A total gentleman who’s my most recent writing partner:  Starcross@LoveLustLondon  This guy has a knack for crafting tasteful filth, but read his interview to see what a fascinating guy he is.

  • What made you decide to write on an adult/erotic theme?I once read an article in (someone else’s) Cosmopolitan magazine about a sex party and it struck a chord. From that point I decided to put my thoughts about my exploration of kink and non-monogamy onto a blog.

  • What draws you to the blogs you follow?

Content which makes me think, as well as helps me to understand the endless subject of sex, kink and open relationships. Other blogs have incredible erotica – for free! – which guides me in my writing. Then there are those which showcase ridiculously sexy, extremely clever erotic photography. So much good stuff out there!

  • What is your favourite type of adult toy?

Rabbit-style vibrators. So far I’ve yet to find a toy that does anything for me on/in any part of my body, but these vibrators always have spectacular results with my partners. Bringing them to orgasm is a source of great pleasure for me.

  • If you were sent to a desert island (with no power issues) name the adult item or film or book you’d take with you:

Does my sub count as an item?! OK, I guess not. It would have to be Delta of Venus by Anaïs Nin. I first found this book as an impressionable pre-teen on my parent’s bookshelf and delighted in the images it conjured in my head. I’ve revisited many times since and never fail to be titillated, in various different ways.

  • What’s your current sexuality?  At what age did you realise this was the right ‘fit’ for you?

I’m heterosexual, I guess, but I don’t yet think I’ve reached the age where this is the right fit for me. I’ve certainly become more curious about my sexuality the further I delve into kink and certainly wouldn’t be averse to being in the presence of another naked man in the right situation, in fact there’s a chance I’d enjoy it.

  • What’s your preference – naked or “dressed up” for sex?  If dressed up, how so?

Dressed up, although that state never lasts for long. It’s fun to get a tantalising glimpse of a partner’s body, or to tease them with, say, tight boxer shorts. Of course being dressed up is only enjoyable knowing that, at some point, you’re going to see one another naked.

  • Is there a kink or fantasy you’re yearning to try?

Pegging. My wife isn’t keen and it would just seem too weird to try it with my sub. I’d only try it with someone who was just as excited to be the pegger as I would be as peggee.

  • Name a pivotal moment in your youth which may have set the path for your sex life:

Apart from the discovery of that Anaïs Nin book, it would have to be surreptitiously watching Debbie Does Dallas as a teenager with some friends. I wanted to try everything – orgies, threesomes, objectification…everything!

  • Name the fictional being or species you’d most like to have an encounter with:

So many! Let’s say the Studio Ghibli character Totoro – a playful, cheerful character who, like me, has a deep love of woodlands.

  • You’re going to a party – if you could pick 5 ideal guests (living or dead) to meet and party with, who would they be?  Expand a little on why you chose them.

Queen Victoria, It would be fascinating to learn what it felt like to rule most of the planet

My dear departed dog, because she gave everyone joy and this time I’d get to say goodbye

Stephen Hawking, in the hope that he’s figured out the after life (if there is one) and can explain it to me

Commander Chris Hadfield, so that I could hear his space stories and  discuss the possibility of aliens and whether or not they’d be benevolent.

Sarah Michelle Geller, Boyhood crush, manhood crush.

  • Sex needn’t always be serious – do you have a funny moment to share?

Hmmm, there’ve been more than a few, but a recent attempt at sex on a small boat to Antarctica proved to be more amusing than it was successful, thanks to being in a storm with 12-metre waves. Fortunately there was a Satisfyer Pro to hand to get her on her way to a more stable orgasm!

  • Sexting – love it or hate it?

Love, love, love it. Being away from a partner for more than a few days it’s always fun to tease one another and build up the anticipation until we next meet.

  • Which mainstream film depicts your favourite erotic scene?

Eyes Wide Shut. Yes, it’s an overall terrible film, but the orgy scene contains some monumentally hot scenarios, such as putting a woman on display in front of dozens of clothed men, threesomes, group sex, public sex etc.

  • If you watch porn, do you have a preference for professional or amateur?

Professional, but that may be because I haven’t really explored amateur porn.

  • Before you go, please advise us 1 sex blog which we should add to our reading list:

The blog I’d like to nominate is  because it’s like picking up a magazine with a large variety of content, all of it hugely engaging.
