We Wont be Silenced – Keep Sharing

Hey Dark darlings!  For this week’s #SoSS I’m again sharing some wonderful posts which I’ve been thrilled to read this week, and if you enjoy them too, you may want to explore other posts by these bloggers as they are always writing, posting pictures and reviews.

I would also like to say how useful I’ve been finding DomSigns’ Twitter tutorials on how to improve one’s blog.  I fully intend to ‘buy him a coffee’ for the expertise he has shared.  I’ve also got a great friend in May whose blog I follow, and she has been de-mystifying some of the quirks of Blogger for me, so if my posts look more professional, kudos to her!

I’m delighted to be able to share a great interview with a fellow blogger this week, definitely a blogger you’d be wise to become familiar with:

Writer: Beatrix Bottomsby (aka Beatrix_B)

Twitter profile: @ThePinkSeam
Blog name: The Pink Seam

  • What made you decide to write a sex blog?

Well, I’m more of an erotica writer than sex blogger. Still, I began posting erotic stories because I wanted to see if I had the audacity make the transition from writing mainstream fiction/nonfiction to writing erotica.

Believe it or not, a little over a year ago, I’d never even tried writing a sexually-charged scene, let alone writing something blatantly sexual. My first bit of flash erotica, entitled Overbooked, was a MM/gay short that got some positive feedback from LGBTQ readers.

I figured if I could convincingly write in the MM erotica sub-genre, I’d  likely do okay writing in other erotic genres too. After writing a few more short stories, I was addicted. I’ve been writing erotica ever since.

  • What’s behind the title of your blog or your blogging “name”?

The Pink Seam is a thinly veiled vaginal reference that came to me while I was listening to “We Work the Black Seam, ” a song  off of Sting’s Bring on the Night album.

In the moment,  was thinking about how ‘seam’ had a few connotations. However, ‘long, narrow indentation or furrow’ was the one that piqued my interest. It wasn’t difficult to make the visual leap of representing the ‘seam’ as  a pair of parted lips with hot pink in place of the negative space at the center of the logo. I created a quick logo soon after and was off to the races.

Beatrix B., is short for Beatrix Bottomsby, which is a pseudonym I chose to write erotica under. When I first told my mom of my plans to write erotica, and the name I’d been considering, we shared a big laugh over it. Oddly enough, she now calls me Beatrix as an inside joke, so the name is more ‘mine’ than I’d ever intended.

  • Describe your blog in a nutshell:

My ‘Medium’ blog is simply a collection of short-form fiction and a sprinkling of poems. However, I am slowly transitioning to a secondary WordPress site, which will contain more personal posts as well.

Because I just jumped into writing erotica on a whim, I didn’t plan out my blog in advance. Now that my erotic writing has begun to yield revenue, I have plans to legitimize a website for it as well as  put a marketing plan and post schedule in place in the near future.

  • How long have you been blogging on this theme?

I’ve been writing as Beatrix at The Pink Seam for just a little over a year.

  • If you were sent to a desert island (with no power issues) name the 1 adult toy you’d take with you:

Personally, I’d take my laptop, which can functions as an ‘adult toy’ on several different levels if you think about it.

  • What’s your current sexuality?  At what age did you realise this was the right ‘fit’ for you?

I’m currently straight with a dollop of bi-curiosity.  The more I explore my sexuality and expose myself to kinky topics, the more I’ve opened up  to experimentation. I can’t say I’ve found my perfect ‘fit’, but I’m having fun figuring it out.

  • What’s your preference – naked or “dressed up” for sex?  If dressed up, how so?

I love dressing up for sex. Naturally, lingerie, heels, hose, etc. play into the mix, but I don’t mind a bit of costume wear either. I’m a very creative person, so that trait tends to spill over into many facets of my life. Sex is one of them.

  • Name the fictional being or species you’d most like to have an encounter with:

  • Anal sex – Meh or Yay?

Sometimes I’m the bottom in this scenario; sometimes I’m the top. So, I guess that puts me in the ‘yay’ category.

  • Sex needn’t always be serious – do you have a funny moment to share?

Well, there was the one time I mistakenly told my long-time (ex)boyfriend’s very conservative mother that I LOVED cock. She didn’t speak English and my Castilian Spanish, was rudimentary at the time. Her reaction was priceless in the face of my having no idea what I’d said. Does that count?

(FYI: I was trying to tell her that I loved chicken, which she happened to be making for dinner.  I learned later that el pollo (which means ‘chicken’) and la polla (which is the Castilian slang for ‘cock’) are not interchangeable. )

  • Sexting – love it or hate it?

Love it!. There are times that were I not sexting, I’d not be having partnered sex at all.

  • Do you watch porn?  Yes.

  • Before you go, please tell us 1 adult blog (aside from yours) which we must add to our reading list:

It appears F. Dot Lenora’s bi-weekly writing meme might be a revamp, but it looks like it’ll be a lot of fun. If you are a fan of erotic flash fiction, you should give it a try.  ►►Flash Fridaywww.fridayflash.fdotleonora.com

This week I have shared:

Masturbation Monday:  A thought provoking piece (I hope!) on why red is considered sexy

Wicked Wednesday:  A tale for the prompt ‘Tradition’ which takes place before a Halloween Party (Part 1 of 2)
